Report: Sgt. Slaughter Rejected Passing Down The Cobra Clutch To Lacey Evans
Further details on the issues between Lacey Evans and Sgt. Slaughter have emerged.
Lacey Evans appeared on the June 2 edition of SmackDown with a new attire, making her way to the ring in a military vest while adorning a Sgt. Slaughter-esque hat with a cobra on it. Evans has taken inspiration from Sgt. Slaughter for some time, having used the Cobra Clutch since January.
The similar attire was seemingly one step too far for Slaughter's daughter, though, and she called out Evans which led to a back-and-forth exchange on Twitter. Sgt. Slaughter even briefly got involved until Evans fired back.
There appears to have been issues between the WWE Hall of Famer and Lacey Evans for months, with WrestleVotes reporting that Slaughter refused to appear in Evans' return vignettes to pass down the Cobra Clutch.
"Adding to the Lacey Evans / Sgt. Slaughter story...back in January WWE asked Sarge to appear in the Lacey return vignettes, where he would 'teach' & pass down the Cobra Clutch. Slaughter adamantly denied any involvement," WrestleVotes tweeted.
If the criticism from Slaughter and his family will lead to a change for Evans on TV is unknown. Many have supported her using the military attire since she did serve in the United States Marine Corps, while Slaughter did not.
