St. Louis man charged with drug trafficking after chase in Callaway and Boone counties

A St. Louis man has been charged after Callaway County deputies said he had almost two pounds of methamphetamine.

On Saturday, Callaway County Sheriff’s deputies tried to pull over a vehicle with a license plate that came up as stolen.

That turned into a chase that went down Interstate 70 to Highway 63 in Boone County, with speeds reaching 100 miles per hour.

The vehicle eventually crashed near the Conley Road exit off Highway 63.

The driver, identified as Alquino Porter, tried to run away.

Callaway and Boone County deputies tased him and then were able to take him into custody.

Columbia police officers and Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers helped in the chase.

Deputies said they found 900 grams (1.94 pounds) of meth.

A passenger in the vehicle was interviewed and released.

A Callaway County deputy had minor injuries while deploying spike strips.

They were treated and released from the hospital.

The Callaway County prosecutor charged Porter with Trafficking Drugs -2nd Degree, Aggravated Fleeing A Stop Or Detention-Causes Physical Injury and Resisting/Interfering With Arrest For A Felony.

They also charged him with three driving misdemeanors, Operate Vehicle On Highway Without A Valid License - 1st Offense, Car/Motorcycle/Truck Under 18000 Lbs Followed Another Vehicle Too Closely, and Failure To Register Motor Vehicle.

Porter was being held in the Callaway County Jail without bond.
